What Went Wrong In Samantha’s Shaakuntalam

Samantha’s Shakuntalam has landed in theatres yesterday, the highly anticipated film opened up with disappointing reviews from the audience and critics as well. Though the film had tremendous buzz before its release it failed to entertain the audience.

These are some factors that made Shaakuntalam a huge disaster.

At first, one couldn’t imagine Samantha in such kind of role, though it’s a pure love drama, Samantha is not suitable for Mythological genres. Moreover, Sam dint get much screen presence in the flick, Dev Mohan’s role got much scope, he was all over the film, and it seemed to be like Dev Mohan’s movie.

Director Guna Shanker failed to execute the film properly, Shaakuntalam is a pure love and emotional drama, But Guna Shekar added unwanted action in the film, looks like he wanted to create Strome with Shaakuntalam but he failed to implement it like Rajamouli.

He tried something out of the box, which he has never done before, and this made the film face huge rejection at the box office.

The VFX and 3D versions are the major drawbacks of the film, Shaakuntalam would have been much better without VFX. Most of the audience felt like Shaalunkatalam VFX is somewhere similar to cartoon animation.

Legendary music director Mani Sharma is also seen in half colour with his music, the music which he composed is not up to his mark.

Director Guna Shekar has misused the opportunity, which was given to him, he could have made Shaakuntalam much better. But unnecessary action and Poor VFX made the film get rejected by the audience.

Putting all this a side, the film has a heart-touching love and emotions in it.

Shaakuntalam is made with a heft budget of 65crs, star producers Dil Raju and Neelima Guna have jointly produced this film.
