In 2022, T-Series made headlines with the announcement of ‘Aashiqui 3’, sparking rumors of Karthik Aaryan starring as the protagonist under the direction of Anurag Basu. However, the production company has recently released an official statement, clarifying its stance on the matter. The statement asserts that T-Series currently has no plans to revive the ‘Aashiqui’ series. If such plans were to materialize they would collaborate exclusively with the Bhatts, the original rights holder of the franchise. Their upcoming venture, the statement emphasizes is unrelated to the romantic drama.
T-Series official statement reads, ” We wish to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of ‘Aashiqui 3’. If and when ‘Aashiqui 3’ movies forward, T-Series and Vishesh Films/Mukesh Bhatt, as joint owners of the franchise, will jointly produce it.”
Furthermore, the statement categorically denies ongoing rumors suggesting T-Series’ involvement in producing ‘Aashiqui’ under a different title. The proposed film directed by Anurag Basu is neither ‘Aashiqui 3’ nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. T-Series expresses gratitude for the ongoing support from fans and underscores their commitment to consistently delivering top-quality content.
The ‘Aashiqui franchise began with the release of the film ‘Aashiqui’ in 1990, a blockbuster that continues to dominate the charts with its soundtrack. The sequel, released nearly two decades later in 2013, starred Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor and enjoyed a successful run both commercially and musically. Despite the initial announcement in September 2022, regarding Kartik’s involvement in ‘Aashiqui 3,’ T-Series’ official statement now confirms the absence of further developments in the production of the film. Any future projects related to the franchise remain uncertain at this time.
