Buchi Babu Sana’s ‘Uppena’ not only secured the prestigious National Award for Best Telugu Film but also garnered significant commercial success. However, amidst its acclaim, some critics likened it to a ‘Freemake’, drawing comparisons to various films, notably ‘Sairat’ (Which was later remade in Hindi as ‘Dhadak’, starring Jahnvi Kapoor).
In a separate development, Boney Kapoor the esteemed producer and father of Janhvi Kapoor, recently voiced his admiration for Buchi Babu’s ‘Uppena’ and expressed a longstanding desire to adapt it for the Hindi audience. “I strongly believe that it should be remade in Bollywood, and I aspire for my daughter Khushi Kapoor to take the lead role,” he stated, expressing optimism that this cherished project will come to fruition in due time.
Khushi Kapoor, who made her acting debut with Netflix’s ‘The Archies’ and has two Hindi films in the pipeline, stands on the brink of potential stardom. The question remains whether she will headline the Hindi adaptation of ‘Uppena,’ thereby realizing her father’s wish and captivating audiences with her talent.
