Kangana Ranaut recently shared her long aspiration to bring to life the story of Bilkis Bano who is a survivor of the 2002 Gujarat riots. According to the reports she endured some traumatic experiences such as rape and the tragic loss of her family. Known for her powerful roles and activism, Kangana revealed that she has devoted three years to researching and developing this impactful project.

Kangana talked about the difficulties she had in bringing Bilkis Bano’s story to life on screen, despite her sincere desire to do so. Netflix, Amazon, and other major studios have been hesitant to do the project, citing policies against ‘Politically Motivated films’ Furthermore, JioCinema refused to work with Kangana due to her political affiliations and Zee added more complications during a merger.

It is still uncertain if Kangana will be able to get an OTT platform or a big studio to support this project. Nevertheless, her openness about her difficulties draws attention to the problems filmmakers encounter in bringing socially relevant stories to life.
