Darshan Kaatera: In the midst of the ‘Salaar Ceasefire’ storm involving Prabhas and Prasanth Neel, the latest Kannada film ‘Kaatera’ starring Challenging Star Darshan was released on December 29th. While Salaar is primarily a Telugu film, the entire technical team, including the director and production house, hails from Sandalwood (Kannada film industry). The narrative style also resonates with Kannada audiences, further solidifying its classification as a Kannada film. This connection contributed to Salaar’s success in its Kannada version.
Despite concerns that ‘Kaatera’ might face some serious competition from ‘Salaar,’ the film is holding its ground at the box office and is emerging as a winner. Official announcements from the makers reveal that the film has collected an impressive Rs 77 Crores in just four days, a remarkable feat for a regional film released in a single language.
On the opening day, the movie witnessed collections of Rs 19.79 crore. Saturday experienced a slight dip with earnings of Rs 17.35 crore, while Sunday saw a surge reaching the highest figures at Rs 20.94 crore. Monday contributed Rs 18 Crores, bringing the total to Rs 77 Crores. ‘Kaatera’ is posing a tough competition to ‘Salaar’ in rural and B, C centers.
Directed by Tharun Sudhir, the film marks the acting debut of Aradhana, daughter of the late producer Ramu and actress Malashri. The cast includes Jagapathi Babu, Shruthi, Kumar Govind, Vaijanath Biradar, among others. The film’s compelling story has been attracting crowds, especially families, contributing significantly to its success. Meanwhile, ‘Salaar Ceasefire’ is steadily heading towards a remarkable Rs 700 Crores GBOC (Global Box Office Collection).
