It is undeniable how much songs contribute to the success of a film. Songs are often the primary means through which a film reaches the masses, and filmmakers take special care when it comes to their selection. Lately, there has been a trend of multilingual music directors making their mark in Tollywood. Whether for the sake of freshness, the popularity of these directors, or other reasons, many Telugu director-producers are now turning to Tamil music directors. Notable names like AR Rahman and Anirudh Ravichandran have been quite busy with several Telugu movies.
Anirudh Ravichandran, one of Kollywood’s most sought-after music composers, is currently working on the music for the Telugu movie ‘Devara,’ directed by Koratala Siva and starring NTR as the hero. Additionally, he is composing music for the film ‘#VD12,’ featuring young hero Vijay Devarakonda and directed by Gautham Tinnanuri. There are even talks of Anirudh being considered for an upcoming film featuring Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and directed by Chandu Mondeti.
AR Rahman, the Oscar-winning maestro, also returns to work on a Telugu film after a considerable gap. He is rumored to compose music for the upcoming film ‘#RC16,’ which brings together Mega Power Star Ram Charan and director Buchibabu Sana. There are also discussions about Rahman stepping in if Anirudh is unavailable for the Naga Chaitanya-Chandu Mondeti movie.
GV Prakash Kumar is another talented music director who has been making waves in Telugu cinema. He is composing music for several exciting projects, including Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao,’ Megastar Chiranjeevi’s nephew Panja Vaishnav Tej’s ‘Adikesava,’ youth star Nithin-Venky Kudumula’s film, and Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan-Venky Atluri’s film and also the latest one, Matka cinema starring Varun Tej.
Santhosh Narayan, known for delivering a blockbuster with the movie ‘Dasara,’ is now composing music for the pan-world movie ‘Project K,’ starring Rebel star Prabhas and directed by Nag Ashwin. He is also the music director for the upcoming film ‘Saindhav,’ featuring Victory Venkatesh and directed by Shailesh Kolanu. Furthermore, he is working on Mahi V Raghav’s latest film ‘Yatra-2.’
Harris Jayaraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja, two accomplished composers from Kollywood, are also contributing their musical talents to Tollywood. Harris is currently working on two Telugu films, one featuring Nitin and directed by Vakkantham Vamsi, and the other starring Nagashaurya. Meanwhile, Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing music for the movie starring Vishwak Sen and directed by Krishna Chaitanya.
