Kamal Haasan is currently engrossed in preparations for his highly anticipated upcoming release, ‘Thug Life,’ which has been creating a buzz in South Indian cinema circles. However, recent reports have caused a stir on the internet, suggesting that actor Dulquer Salmaan, initially set to play a pivotal role in the film, has opted out of the project. Additionally, Jayam Ravi is also said to have withdrawn from the film due to scheduling conflicts.
Sources indicate that Jayam Ravi’s decision is due to conflicting commitments, potentially hindering his participation in the upcoming shooting schedules. Trade analyst Karthik Ravivarma hinted on social media that scheduling issues might be behind Jayam Ravi’s potential departure. Previous reports suggested that Dulquer Salmaan also left ‘Thug Life due to his packed schedule. The exits of both actors appear to stem from their busy schedules, complicating their involvement in Kamal Haasan’s project. However, no official statement has been issued by the film’s crew regarding these developments.
During the finale of Bigg Boss Tamil Season 7, Kamal Haasan discussed ‘Thug Life,’ emphasizing Raaj Kamal Films’ commitment to prioritizing quality over profitability. This dedication to excellence is evident in his collaboration with Mani Ratnam, with whom he reunited after 35 years after their last project together, ‘Nayakan’. Haasan reflected on their collaboration, stating, “If I liked a story, he didn’t like it. And if he liked it, I didn’t. If both of us liked it, some other problems arose. So, it has taken these many years to finally come up with something that we both liked.”
‘Thug Life’, directed by Mani Ratnam, marks the duo’s collaboration after 36 years. The star-studded cast includes names like Trisha, Joju George, Abhirami, Nassar, Gautham Karthik, and Aishwarya Lakshmi. The film is produced by Kamal Haasan, R Mahendran, Mani Ratnam, and Siva Ananth under Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies banners. AR Rahman is composing the music, Ravi K Chandran is handling the cinematography, and A Sreekar Prasad is the editor. The screenplay is penned by Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan.
