Superhit Film Premalu OTT Release Date Locked

The recent Malayalam blockbuster ‘Premalu’, starring Naslen and Mamitha Baiju and directed by Girish AD, has successfully completed a 50-day theatrical run. Originally released on February 9th coinciding with the Valentine’s season, the film has emerged as a massive hit in in Malayalam cinema and subsequently received dubbing released in Telugu and Tamil languages. SS Karthikeya oversaw the Telugu version release while Udhayanidi Stalin facilitated the Tamil version.

‘Premalu’ has garnered over Rs 15 Crores in gross revenue in Telugu which was initially acquired for Rs 3 Cr resulting in a profit of over 5 Cr for Telugu distributors with a total worldwide gross of Rs 125 Crores across all languages primarily from its Malayalam version. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Hyderabad, ‘Premalu’ intricately blends elements of drama, and romance and intrigues captivating audiences with its compelling narrative and memorable characters.

Initially slated for OTT release on Disney Plus Hotstar on March 29 or 30, the film’s digital debut faced a delay due to ongoing negotiations for the Tamil theatrical run agreement which is expected to be finalized this week. Latest reports indicate that ‘Premalu’ will likely premier digitally on April 12 with a small twist of the Telugu version to be released on Aha and other languages on Disney plus Hotstar on the same date. Both audiences who missed its theatrical run and those eager for a rewatch are eagerly anticipating its OTT release.

Scripted by Girish AD and Kiran Josey ‘Premalu’ also stars Althaf Salim, Meenakshi Raveendran, and Akhila Bhargavan in supporting roles with Vishnu Vijay handling the music and Ajmal Sabu overseeing cinematography while editing is managed by Akash Joseph Varghese.
