Sandeep Reddy Vanga ‘s latest directorial Animal has been performing well at the box office despite a wave of criticism. In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker opened up about Animal’s fight scenes and shared where he drew his inspiration from. Not just that, but Vanga also spoke about how he always got captivated by imperfect characters on screen.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest directorial venture ‘Animal‘ has been performing well at the box office despite a wave of criticism. In an exclusive interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker opened up about Animal’s fight scenes and shared where he draws his inspiration from. Additionally, Vanga expressed his fascination with imperfect characters on screen.

During the interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga specifically highlighted a particular fight scene in Animal and shared that he was inspired from Quentin Tarantino’s iconic film, Kill Bill. He said that there is a fight scene in Kill Bill that seems to go on forever. Vanga admitted to being captivated by the scene watching it multiple times and being completely engrossed each time.

He shared, “The inspiration is from Kill Bill. In Kill Bill, there is a fight sequence that is never-ending. I was hooked to it. I saw it multiple times and saw it holding my attention. First, when I saw that scene in Kill Bill, I thought it was so smartly done. That remained in me. When I read in the reviews that Kill Bill style action was used in Animal, then I realized it.” Embracing Imperfect Characters

In the same interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga expressed his enduring love for imperfect characters in cinema. He revealed that flawed individuals on screen have always captivated him, recalling that the films he enjoyed during his childhood featured such characters. As he progressed through film school and explored the works of directors like David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, and Stanley Kubrick, Vanga found his storytelling niche within the realm of flawed characters. He said, “Whatever films I liked in my childhood were all of flawed men. When I went to film school, I was exposed to flawed men watching the movies of David Fincher, Martin Scorsese, and Stanley Kubrick. So, I felt like this is a zone in which I can tell stories.
