Karan Johar Praises Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal

Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Animal’ has stirred controversy with some accusing it of glorifying misogyny, leading to criticism directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga from certain quarters of the film industry.

From Javed Akhtar denouncing the societal impact of Animal’s success to Kangana Ranaut refusing to collaborate with Vanga, it’s evident that the film has polarized opinions. Nevertheless, despite the debates and backlash, ‘Animal’ has emerged as a commercial success. Ranbir Kapoor’s performance has been widely acclaimed, earning him the Best Actor Award at Filmfare. Karan Johar, who is receiving praise for his film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ for portraying men like Rocky Randhawa, has also endorsed ‘Animal’, defending his stance in interviews.

In a conversation with Forbes, Karan Johar robustly defended his admiration for ‘Animal,’ emphasizing his view of it as a character-driven narrative, focusing on a deeply flawed and troubled protagonist. He expressed admiration for the film’s technical aspects, such as sound design, screenplay, dialogue, and character development.

Acknowledging the criticism ‘Animal’ faced, Johar admitted to receiving feedback, both supportive and critical, yet affirmed his emotional connection to the film. He emphasized the importance of accepting both praise and criticism gracefully. ‘Animal’ marks a significant milestone in Ranbir Kapoor’s career, grossing approximately Rs 900 crore worldwide. The film also propelled actresses Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri to stardom, further solidifying its impact.
