Ranbir Kapoor is set to shatter his chocolate boy image with Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s Animal, a film delving into the complexities of a father-son relationship. In a recent interview, Sandeep, known for his film Kabir Singh, responded to criticism of violence by stating that Animal would feature even more intense scenes.
A particular scene from the pre-teaser has generated significant buzz—a massive gun concealed in a wooden box, revealed by Ranbir and his team breaking it open. This weapon, named the War Machine, was specially crafted for the film and weighs a staggering 500 kilograms. It comes into play around the interval, unfolding in an 18-minute sequence.
Reflecting on the experience of handling such a unique prop, Ranbir Kapoor shared, “I remember the first time Suresh Anna showed us the gun, we were shocked at how he had conceived such a machine from scratch. It was amazing, an entirely original piece. When you’re acting for movies, you’re not actually firing the gun. So, you have to pretend and imagine the impact of operating such a heavy and large machine on your body and ears, especially during extended shooting hours. I had to visualize that aspect because, of course, the bullets are added with computer graphics—the magic of movies. But the sheer idea was fascinating, and I feel fortunate to have an image of wielding a gun like that.”
T Series and Bhadrakali Pictures produced Animal Jointly and the film hits the screens on December.
