Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has pulled together an incredible menagerie of talent for his upcoming film Animal. Leading the pack is Ranbir Kapoor, who will surely deliver a roaring performance. Anil Kapoor, a veteran of countless films, adds his experience and charm to the production. Beauty and talent collide with the inclusion of Rashmika Mandanna – her role will be one to watch closely. Animal will release in theatres on Friday (December 1) in five languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
A 3 minute and 32 second trailer was released earlier this week providing insight into the film’s plot. The trailer depicts Ranbir’s character as having developed a fierce nature stemming from a violent upbringing during his youth. His character is also shown to be highly protective and obsessive in his devotion to his father, portrayed by Anil Kapoor. Other characters are threatened by anyone perceived as interfering with his love for his father. Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of Ranbir’s romantic interest, while Bobby Deol plays the antagonist. Deol makes a stylish yet ominous appearance meant to convey a sense of menace within the context of the trailer.
In a recent media interaction, actor Ranbir Kapoor discussed his process of portraying a violent character while maintaining separation from that role. As quoted by ANI News, Ranbir revealed that despite aspects of violence in the part, he is always able to detach himself once filming wraps for the day.
He stated, “I maintain a detached approach. I do not take my character work home with me after shooting. That would not be fair to my loved ones. If I were to continue acting like that character outside of production, my wife would rightly take issue with me.
By keeping work and personal life separate, Ranbir ensures he can fully inhabit intense or dark fictional personas without bringing that energy home. His method allows him to explore a wide range of roles while still preserving peace in his personal relationships once production ends each day.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director of Animal, has so far directed two films in his career – Arjun Reddy (Telugu, 2017) and Kabir Singh (Hindi, 2019). The characters of Arjun and Kabir received criticism. Vijay Deverakonda featured in Arjun Reddy while Shahid Kapoor starred in the remake, Kabir Singh.
Recently, speaking at the event, he had said that nothing has changed for him post the controversy. “I didn’t change anything. Preeti (Kiara Advani) was a very important character in Kabir Singh and Geetanjali is more important than that in Animal. (All that debate) it made no difference to me,” Sandeep had said.
At the same event, actress Rashmika Mandanna expressed her support for director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. “When I watched Kabir Singh or Arjun Reddy, I did not consider them to be violent films. They were high intensity. The same applies to Animal, where you see a bit of violence. The film is also high in emotion. As a director, Sandeep is unapologetically authentic. Others may sugarcoat things for the screen, but he does not do that. It is so amazing because no one else brings that same level of realism to cinema. He is a very skilled director. The significant anticipation for the film stems solely from the fact that we are witnessing people’s lives depicted with utter authenticity and truthfulness to the core characters,” she stated.
Taking to Instagram, Alia posted the trailer. She wrote, “Can’t really type a full caption – too busy watching this trailer for the 7000th time. My mind is officially blown. I need to watch this movie. Like now. Animal: setting cinemas on fire from the 1st of December. Brace yourselves.” Neetu Kapoor also shared the video and wrote, “Goosebumps.”
T-Series, the production house of Animal, opened the advance booking of the film on Saturday. “#Animal Advance bookings open now,” T-Series posted on X. As per Sacnilk, Animal has already earned ₹3.4 crore as advance ticket sales, hours after the advance booking for the film started.
Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar’s T-Series, Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios and Pranay Reddy Vanga’s Bhadrakali Pictures have backed Animal. Reportedly, the film has a duration of 3 hours and 21 minutes. Animal will face a big Bollywood clash with Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film Sam Bahadur
