On March 12th, acclaimed director Mari Selvaraj announced his upcoming film featuring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran. The yet-to-be-titled movie is a collaborative effort between Pa Ranjith‘s Neelam Studios and Applause Entertainment and it’s anticipated to be a gripping sports drama set to commence shooting soon.
According to the press release the film revolves around the journey of a man who defies the lines on hand to achieve the seemingly impossible which is opting for sports over violence, choosing peace over conflict, and embracing life over death.
Expressing his excitement about the project, Mari Selvaraj stated, “Starting my fifth film with a bang! Overwhelmed to collaborate once again with @beemji Anna and @NeelamStudios_. Thrilled to join forces with @ApplauseSocial and my dear friend @Tisaditi (sic).”
Pa Ranjith and Aditi Anand from Neelam Studios shared their enthusiasm, saying, “Following the special success of ‘Pariyerum Perumal,’ Neelam Studios is thrilled to partner with Mari Selvaraj for this venture. We’re proud to embark on this journey with Applause Entertainment, emphasizing our dedication to meaningful cinema and authentic storytelling.”
Mari Selvaraj further added, “Aditi has been a close friend and a staunch supporter, closely following my work since ‘Pariyerum Perumal.’ I’m delighted to work with her on this project. This film will delve into the raw essence of sports drama, particularly focusing on Kabaddi. Working with Dhruv, a talented young actor, will bring fresh perspectives to the narrative. I firmly believe this film will mark a significant milestone for all of us.” Reports suggest that the untitled film is a biopic centered around the life of Kabaddi player ‘Manathi Ganesan.’ Dhruv Vikram underwent rigorous training to portray the character of a Kabaddi player in the movie.
