Japan Movie Review, Rating: Karthi is back with yet another film, titled Japan. The film is directed by Raju Murugan who previously did Cuckoo and Joker in Tamil. Japan is Karthi’s 25th film and is quite important in his career more than any other movie.

Plot: Karthi (Japan) is a small theif but he rises to become a big robber. One day, he steals Rs 200 cr jewels belonging to a politician. The cops are now on the lookout for him. Japan has to escape. How he manages the escape forms the rest of the story.

Performances: Karthi looks stylish and entertains the viewer with his witty voice and dialogues. He nails it. Anu Emmanuel looks pretty but there is nothing to mention about her performance.

There is no denying that Sunil is a phenomenal actor but he fails here as an investigating officer. The remaining cast have average to zero expression on their faces. Most of them are unknown artists, making the matters worse.

Plus Points:

  • Karthi’s performace.
  • Music by GV Prakash Kumar.
  • Dialgoues in some scenes involving the protagonist.

Minus Points:

  • Weak antagonists.
  • Convenient screenplay.
  • Dull narration.

Analysis:

The film has been made as a heist action comedy. There are a lot of predictable elements here.

Dream Warrior Pictures has mounted the film on a rich scale. However, director Raju Murugan doesn’t elevate the proceedings with matching ideas.

Karthi is a loved actor in the Telugu States. It has to be seen how his idiosyncratic character is going to be received. The box office success or otherwise of Japan will depend on how the audience receive the second half, which is filled with atypical situations.

Verdict: Japan is a disappointing attempt. Try to watch it on OTT if you want to enjoy Karthi’s rugged performance.

Bottom Line: “Japan” MAD In India
