Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, who made their impressive Bollywood debut in 2014 with ‘Heropanti,’ are currently facing a box-office challenge with their latest venture, ‘Ganapath.’ This post-apocalyptic dystopian action film has struggled to make a significant impact, with its total earnings amounting to just Rs 11 crore thus far.
In ‘Ganapath,’ Tiger Shroff takes on the titular role of an ‘immortal’ mercenary in a futuristic setting, with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan portraying his grandfather. Kriti Sanon also plays a prominent role, featuring in various action sequences.
Since its release on October 20, ‘Ganapath’ has failed to gain momentum. On its opening day, it earned a mere Rs 2.50 crore in India, marking Tiger Shroff’s lowest opening to date. The film has not fared much better in the eyes of critics or the audience.
As of October 26, ‘Ganapath’ managed to collect an additional Rs 1 crore, bringing its seven-day total collection to Rs 11.90 crore. The film recorded an occupancy rate of just 9.35 percent on October 26.
In the world of ‘Ganapath,’ the character Ganapath, also known as Guddu (portrayed by Tiger Shroff), is initially unaware of his destiny as the savior of the poor. However, as he becomes aware of his true identity, the once-playboy and flamboyant Guddu transforms into Ganapath, a hero to his people. Throughout his journey, he finds love and a partner in Jassie (played by Kriti Sanon), a skilled martial artist capable of taking on formidable opponents.
This film has garnered attention not only for its action-packed sequences but also as the second collaboration between Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon since their successful debut in ‘Heropanti’ in 2014. However, ‘Ganapath’ appears to be facing challenges at the box office, with its financial performance falling short of expectations.
