Versatile actor JD Chakravarthy made his OTT debut with web series called Dayaa. The series has been directed by Pavan Sadineni. Ramya Nambessan, Eesha Rebba, Josh Ravi, Vishnu Priyaa, and Babloo Prithiveeraj are seen in key roles. Currently, Dayaa is available on Disney Plus Hotstar for streaming. Here is our review of Dayaa.

Story: Dayaa aka Dayakar (JD Chakravarthy) works as a freezer van driver. He has to take care of his pregnant wife. Unfortunately, Dayaa finds a dead body inside his van. He gets scared, but there is more to his fear than meets the eye. He asks his assistant Prabhas (Josh Ravi) to help him out with management. What will Dayaa do? Will he be able to find the murderer? Who has shifted her dead body in Dayaa’s vehicle? Who really killed Kavitha?

What’s hot:

Director Pavan Sadineni wrote all the characters excellently and so grippingly. He is one of the most talented filmmakers of our generation. Each charater in the series has its own scope and width. All the characters in the series make the show interesting, stimulating and invigorating.

The second half has some whistle-worthy moments, never do the scenes and the screenplay disappoint. The director does a fantastic job here. His execution lives up to the audience’s OTT expectations. Dayaa has some misses too, but they are forgivable easily.

Chakravarthy fits the role perfectly, as he gets into the skin of his character very well. His character is complex. Thanks to his style of acting, he makes the audience feel the character’s emotions. It is another remarkable performance by Chakravarthy, who is known for great films like Satya. Eesha Rebba does a good job. We see more of her in the second season.

Ramya Nambessan performed well as a journalist, sending shivers down the spine with her body language. The fighting spirit of her character is superb. There is also an unexpected climax about which the viewers are going to talk about.

What’s not hot?

The series does feel dragged at times. The editing could have been sharper. It would have been nicer if they had trimmed the scenes.

Plus Points:

  • JD Chakravarthy’s performance
  • BGM by Shravan Bharadwaj
  • The cinematography by Vivek Kalepu

Minus Points:

  • Slow-paced narration

Verdict:

Dayaa is must watch series. It could be a bing watch for the movie buffs out there. It is a great attempt by the team at telling a new story in a novel and tantalizing manner. Dayaa is a worthy watch. The series has some flaws as well. In all, you will be glued to your seats while watching the spine-chilling thriller.
