The crime comedy film Paarijatha Parvam featuring Sunil, Chaitanya Rao, Shraddha Das and Harsha Chemudu was released in theatres today. Check out our review to learn how it performs.

Story:

Chaitanya Rao also known as Chaitanya is determined to make his directorial debut with his friend Harsha Chemudu playing the lead role. However, he faces rejection from producers who appreciate his story but oppose his casting choice. After enduring insults from producer Srikanth Iyenger, Chaitanya plans to kidnap Srikanth’s wife and demand ransom for his film. The movie will answer all questions about what happens next including whether Chaitanya succeeds in kidnapping Srikanth’s wife and the role of Bar Seenu (Sunil) and Parvathy (Shraddha Das) in the story.

Technical Aspects:

Kambhapati Santosh’s latest venture falls short of making a mark. The outcome could have been different if more focus was given to developing the story and screenplay. The songs composed by Ree are okay but the background score is disappointing and at times irritating. The score resembles the 8-bit ringtones from old Nokia phones and its repeated use diminishes the impact of the scenes. Bala Saraswathi’s cinematography is decent but Sasank Vupputuri’s editing could have been sharper for better pacing. The production values are satisfactory.

Plus Points:

  • Harsha Chemudu’s witty humor is a standout, delivering laughs with impeccable timing, particularly in the second half.
  • Chaitanya Rao’s portrayal as an aspiring director shines adding depth to the character dynamics.
  • Comedian Sunil’s performance as Bar Seenu stands out with his scenes alongside Chaitanya Rao and Harsha Chemudu providing ample laughs.
  • Srikanth Iyengar impresses with his role, contributing to the overall entertainment value of the film.

Minus Points:

  • The plot of crime comedies should not only entertain but also engage the audience which Paarijatha Parvam fails to do.
  • Director and writer Kambhampati Santosh could have given more attention to the screenplay incorporating thrilling elements to enhance the movie’s impact.
  •  While the comedy scenes featuring Sunil and Harsha are enjoyable but some feel forced and the film includes unnecessary filler scenes.
  • Several characters lack proper development including the female lead Malavika Satheesan, who has limited screen time. Characters played by Samir, Surekha Vani, and Srikanth Iyengar could have been more intricately developed to add depth and humor.

Verdict:

Paarijatha Parvam is a crime comedy that unfortunately falls short in terms of its storyline and screenplay. Despite the best efforts of comedic actors Harsha Chemudu, Sunil, and Srikanth Iyengar, the movie is hampered by scenes that don’t add anything to the plot, pacing problems, and an overall lack of engagement. It’s best to consider exploring other entertainment options this weekend.
