Suriya‘s much-awaited period action drama ‘Kanguva: A Mighty Valiant Saga’ was directed by Siva and is the maiden collaboration with Suriya. This film has a lavish budget of around 300- 350 crores. it is scheduled to be released worldwide in early 2024 in 2D, 3D and IMAX formats. Suriya is acting in six roles and this film is releasing in 38 languages spoken across the globe.
Kanguva Glimpse has created a huge buzz on YouTube from all quarters. The project, initially named Suriya 39, was announced in April 2019 as the actor’s 39th lead film. Pre-production started in January 2021, with production originally planned after Suriya finished Soorarai Pottru (2020). However, it was delayed due to Siva directing Annaatthe (2021). Filming was later postponed, leading to the project being shelved. In January 2022, Suriya revealed that the film was still in progress. Gnanavel Raja initially withdrew as the producer due to its high cost, and later, UV Creations took over.
Kanguva boasts an esmbaling cast of Disha Patani playing as the female lead and Bobby Deol (in their Tamil debuts) alongside Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, Anandaraj, Ravi Raghavendra, K.S. Ravikumar and B.S. Avinash in significant roles.
The film is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja, V. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati under the banners of Studio Green and UV Creations. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music for this film.
