Technical Analysis:

Harshavardhan Rameshwar’s songs receive mixed reviews, with the background score earning a decent rating. Soundar Rajan’s cinematography is neat, capturing the essence of the period drama. The artwork and production values add significant value to the film. The editing could have been more refined. Srikanth Vissa’s impactful dialogues contribute to the film’s strength, elevating patriotism and the hero’s character. Although the execution in the first half falls short, the latter hour is well-handled.

Plus Points:

  • Devil’s storyline is engaging, featuring subplots, powerful characters, and multiple layers.
  •  The murder mystery is skillfully intertwined with patriotic concepts, adding depth to the narrative.
  •  The second half introduces numerous twists that seamlessly integrate into the plot, enhancing the overall experience.

  • Some of the twists are noteworthy and evoke a strong audience response.

  •  The actor skillfully portrays character variations, starting with subtlety and transitioning to a ferocious avatar.
  •  The meticulous artwork effectively depicts the bygone era, and top-notch production values and VFX work enhance the film’s visual appeal.
  •  Samyukta Menon delivers a commendable performance, with her character holding prominence beyond the typical romantic interest role.

Minus Points:

  •  The first song is deemed unnecessary, contributing little to the overall narrative.
  •  The second song, although tied to the plot, fails to impress and adds to the sense of boredom.
  •  The screenplay in the first half is identified as a key weakness, with suggestions that a tighter script could have elevated the movie to the next level.

Verdict: ‘Devil’ stands as a watchable period action drama with an engaging storyline and impressive twists. Kalyan Ram delivers a stunning performance, and the film successfully explores a unique script. While it has a strong start, the first half falters due to a lackluster narrative and subpar songs. Despite these flaws, it remains a worthwhile watch for those willing to overlook these aspects.
