Big-budgeted films targeting the Pan India market are following an unwritten rule of making sequel’s. This strategy has been observed in earlier movies as well. Ram Gopal Varma initiated this trend with ‘Raktha Charitra’, announcing two parts from its launch day, followed by Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’. However, the paradigm shifted dramatically with the emergence of iconic films like ‘Baahubali’, succeeded by ‘KGF’, ‘Pushpa’, and ‘Salaar’.
The anticipation continues with NTR’s upcoming film ‘Devara’, helmed by Koratala Siva, also set to unfold in two parts. The first installment, ‘Devara: Part 1’, is slated for release in October 2024, with filming currently underway in Goa, featuring the core cast in active participation. Post ‘Devara’, NTR is poised to collaborate with Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan for the highly-awaited sequel, ‘War 2’. Additionally, he has signed a project with the acclaimed director Prashanth Neel, renowned for his work in ‘KGF’ and ‘Salaar’, which also adopts the two-part format.
The untitled venture with Prashanth Neel is scheduled to kick off shooting next year, poised to follow the trend of two-part films, inspired by the successes of ‘KGF’ and ‘Devara’. Meanwhile, Prashanth Neel is set to helm Prabhas’s ‘Salaar Part 2: Shauryaanga Parvam’.
