Deepika Padukone turned heads last year when she took over the Oscars stage and handed out the prestigious award to the team of ‘RRR’. Now, she is gearing up to gracethe BAFTA 2024 ceremony as a presenter.
According to a report in Variety, Deepika is among the esteemed actors from around the world who will be attending BAFTA as a presenter. It was confirmed on the evening of Sunday, February 11, that the actor will join other international celebrities such as David Beckham, Care Blanchett, Dua Lipa, Lily Collins from ‘Emily In Paris’, Adjoa Andoh, Hugh Grant, Emma Corrin and Gillian Anderson from ‘The Crown’, Himesh Patel (known for his role in ‘Black Mirror’), and Idris Elba.
Furthermore, the Rising Star Award will be presented by former winners Emma Mackay and Jack O’Connell, with performances by Hannah Waddingham and Sophie Ellies Bexter. Last year, in 2023, Deepika Padukone presented the Oscars to the ‘RRR’ team for the song ‘Naatu Naatu’. During her introduction on stage, she described it as, “An irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats, and killer dance moves to match have made this next song a global sensation”.
Deepika was praised for maintaining her accent during the speech. The ceremony will take place on the night of February 18 at the Royal Festival Hall in London. Audiences in India can catch the live broadcast in the early hours of February 19 on Lionsgate Play.
