Over the past three years, October has proven to be a difficult month for Tollywood. In the first week of October, multiple films hit theaters with moderate expectations, including `Mad`, `Mama Mascheendra`, `800`, and `Rules Ranjan`. Despite of all promotional efforts, only `Mad` managed to defy the odds and emerge as an unexpected success. Sudheer Babu’s triple role movie `Mama Mascheendra` failed to impress the audience and also Kiran Abbavaram‘s `Rules Ranjan` struggled to capture the audience’s attention.
The following week saw the release of around ten small-scale Films, none of which made a significant impact. Films like R. Narayanamurthy’s ‘University,’ ‘Sagileti Katha,’ and ‘Rakshasa Kavyam’ failed to generate buzz and faced disappointing box-office results.
The true box office battle happened during the Dussehra season when Natasimham Balakrishna’s `Bhagwant Kesari` went head-to-head with Vijay’s `Leo` and RaviTeja’s `Tiger Nageswara Rao`. `Bhagwant Kesari` emerged as victorious venture.
After Dussehra, nothing much happened, movies like Sampurnesh Babu’s `Martin Luther King` and Karthik Ratnam’s `Lingocha` didn’t really make an impact. Not even this month’s re-release of `Chatrapati4K` was able to capture the attention of viewers.
Ultimately, out of the 27 movies released in October, only two managed to achieve success: `Bhagwant Kesari`, with its initial hype, secured a Super hit status, while the unexpected victory was bagged by `Mad`.
