Veteran Actor Mithun Chakraborthy Hospitalised

Veteran actor and prominent BJP leader, Mithun Chakraborty was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkota early Saturday morning after experiencing chest pain. Sources close to the actor revealed that he began feeling uneasy prompting immediate medical attention. Currently, Mithun is undergoing treatment under careful observation.

The news comes shortly after Mithun Chakraborty was honored with the prestigious Padma Bhushan Award, recognizing his illustrious contribution to Indian cinema and society. Expressing his gratitude in a heartfelt video message in Bengali, the actor-politician said “Receiving the Padma Bhushan Award fills me with immense pride and joy. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all. I have never sought anything for myself, and to receive this honor without asking is truly a unique and gratifying experience.”

In recent times, Mithun Chakraborty graced the silver screen in the Bengali film ‘Kabuliwala’, directed by Suman Ghosh, which hit theatres in December 2023. Reflecting on the significance of the film, Mithun remarked to Hindustan Times Bangla, “Kabuliwala holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just another project; it’s a thoughtful portrayal. Despite being a Bengali film, it’s crucial to recognize that it revolves around an Afghan character speaking Bengali, not vice versa. In today’s discerning audience, attention to such details is paramount. The film beautifully depicts the journey of an Afghan learning and speaking Bengali with a blend of Hindi and Bengali, offering a nuanced exploration of cultural nuances.
