The horror-comedy film ‘Stree 2,’ starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, continues to dominate the box office. As of day 32, the film has amassed a total of ₹580.18 crore in India, just ₹20 crore shy of the ₹600 crore mark. The movie has consistently performed well, impressing both audiences and trade analysts alike.
In its fifth weekend, ‘Stree 2’ earned ₹3.60 crore on Friday, ₹5.55 crore on Saturday, and ₹6.85 crore on Sunday, bringing the weekend total to ₹16 crore. The film’s success has been bolstered by promotional offers, such as the buy-one-get-one-free ticket deal, which significantly boosted Friday’s numbers. According to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film’s growth over the weekend indicates it still has the momentum to comfortably enter the ₹600 crore club.
‘Stree 2’ has also impacted the box office performance of other films, including ‘The Buckingham Murders’ and ‘Tumbbad.’ ‘The Buckingham Murders,’ starring Kareena Kapoor, has struggled to cross the ₹10 crore mark, while ‘Tumbbad,’ re-released due to popular demand, has earned ₹7.34 crore in its opening weekend.
Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, ‘Stree 2’ is a sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Stree’ and is part of the Maddock Supernatural Universe. The film features an ensemble cast, including Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi, and Sunil Kumar.
