Pushpa 2: The Rule is smashing box office records, soaring past the Rs. 400 crore mark globally in just two days. However, its performance in Tamil Nadu and Kerala is causing quite a stir.
In Tamil Nadu, Pushpa 2 opened with a spectacular Rs. 11 crores gross, the highest ever for a Telugu dubbed film in this region. On day two, it held strong, collecting nearly Rs. 8 crores gross, bringing the two-day total to Rs. 19 crores. This opening even surpassed the massive multi-starrer RRR and the straight Tamil film Kanguva. The gigantic success in Tamil Nadu caught everyone by surprise.
On the flip side, the trend in Kerala has been disappointing. Despite Allu Arjun’s strong following and vigorous promotion, the film experienced a significant drop in collections on Friday after a strong opening. Negative reviews in Kerala contributed to the decline, with the two-day gross totaling approximately Rs. 9 crores.
Today’s trend in Kerala remains weak, and prospects don’t look bright. The Hindi version has been leading since yesterday, while the original version is holding up decently. High ticket prices have affected footfalls, but the Telugu version saw a positive jump today. The overseas collections, however, are outstanding.
