Mani Rathnam’s Magnum Opus and the Pride of Tamil Cinema Ponniyin Selvan 2 has been released in theatres today, the film has set up tremendous buzz among the audience, as part 1 is an all-time hit in Kollywood. The film has set up a huge star cast of Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, and others.

If you are searching for a genuine review then u have landed on the right page, here is the genuine review, and rating of the film.

Plot: The story begins where part 1 has ended, Vallavarayan Vandhiyadevudu (Karthi) and ArunMozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) who sunk in a sea while battling against pandyas, get saved by a voiceless woman Mandhakini (Aishwarya Rai). Later ArunMozhi Varman gets treated by Buddhas in Lanka. Meanwhile, Nandhini (Aishwarya Rai) decides to end the Chola empire by killing the heritor, will she succussed to bring down the Chola empire? Why does she want to kill Cholaa Empire? Why he looks like Mandhakini, What happens to Vallavarayan Vandhiyadevudu and ArunMozhi Varman? will they return back to Chola Dynasty? To know this one has to watch the film.

Performance: The film almost has the same star cast as Ponniyin Selvan 1, Though the film has a huge star cast. Especially Aishwarya Rai and Chiyaan Vikram are the soul of PS2. Their roles were highlighted in the film, Karthi’s character was not much prominent as it was in the prequel, he entertained the audience with his comedy in bits. Jayam Ravi was given limited screen space in the film and dazzling beauty Trisha was just a part in the film, though it is her screen presence or her role that had no impact on the film. Mani Rathnam has just highlighted Aishwarya Rai and Chiyaan Vikram in the sequel.

Technical Aspect: Ace director Mani Rathnam has managed to bring interest to audience to watch the film with an interesting story plot, compared to the prequel. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is much better in all aspects.  No doubt the director might have impressed the Tamil audience, but he once again failed to win the hearts of the Telugu audience. As the story plot is related to the Tamil Nādu region, it is quite difficult for the Telugu audience to adopt the story plot of the film.

Despite all this Mani Rathnam has succussed portray what he wants to, but after making several changes still there was lag in many scenes. few war fight scenes from the film are eye-catching, Oscar-winning music director Ah Rahman once again impressed everyone with his periodic music which is suitable for the film. The editing work and visualization are appreciable.

Positives

Aishwarya Rai and Chiyaan Vikram’s [performance is the first major asset for the film, next comes the earth-shaking BGM scored by Oscar Winner AR Rahaman, his background score made fans to go crazy in theatres. Mani Rathnam has managed to execute the film properly.

Negatives The only thing Mani Rathnam dint learn from the prequel is diminishing the Lag in the film, the film has too much lag in the first half and second half too. Though AR Rahaman gave mind-blowing BGM the songs in the film failed to entertain the audience. There was a huge disturbance in the storyline due to the heavy star cast.

Verdict: Ponniyin Selvan 2 is an epic periodic drama, which is recommended to those who are aware of Chola’s history. One will definitely get disappointed if they watch the film without having an idea about Chola’s history. The film will entertain the audience in bits wise.
