Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has expressed her frustration over becoming a favourite target
for her efforts to “awaken a sleeping nation.” The release of her film Emergency
which she directed, wrote, and co-produced, has been postponed once again due to ongoing controversies and legal hurdles.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to consider objections raised against the film before issuing a certification. This has resulted in further delays, pushing the release date beyond the initially planned September 6.
Ranaut, who portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the political drama, took to social media to voice her concerns. She stated, “Today I have become everyone’s favourite target. This is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation. They don’t know what I am talking about; they have no clue why I am so concerned because they want peace and don’t want to take sides.”
The film has faced multiple delays and objections, particularly from Sikh organizations, which accuse it of misrepresenting their community and historical facts. Despite these challenges, Ranaut remains steadfast in her mission to bring the story to the public.
The new expected release date for “Emergency” is now set for later this month, pending CBFC certification.
Today I have become everyone’s favourite target, this is the price you pay for awakening this sleeping nation, they don’t know what I am talking about they have no clue why I am so concerned, because they want peace, they don’t want to take sides. They are cool, you know…
