Allu Arjun’s blockbuster, Pushpa 2: The Rule, has overtaken Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD to become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024. According to Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 has amassed an impressive Rs 1,060 crore globally in its extended eight-day opening week, surpassing the lifetime earnings of Kalki 2898 AD, which stands at Rs 1,042 crore.
From India alone, Pushpa 2 has garnered a staggering Rs 867 crore, while Kalki managed Rs 767 crore domestically. Although Kalki leads in international markets with Rs 275 crore, Pushpa 2’s overwhelming domestic success has tipped the scales in its favor.
Pushpa 2 has now surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan (Rs 1,055 crore) and is on its way to outpacing Shah Rukh’s Jawan (Rs 1,160 crore). It could soon challenge KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore) and RRR (Rs 1,230 crore) for the third spot on the all-time highest grosser list. The top positions are still held by Aamir Khan’s Dangal (Rs 2,070 crore) and Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,788 crore).
Pushpa 2’s journey at the domestic box office has been phenomenal. After collecting Rs 725.8 crore nett in its first week, the film continued its success into the second weekend. On its second Friday, it earned Rs 36.25 crore nett in India, bringing its total domestic net earnings to Rs 762.1 crore nett.
Directed by Sukumar, Pushpa 2: The Rule features an ensemble cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, and Rao Ramesh.
Pushpa 2 is not just a film; it’s a phenomenon that’s rewriting the history of Indian cinema.
